In the psychiatric ward of New York City, photojournalist Emanuel finds out about a girl found in the Amazon rainforest. Emmanuel discovers that he appears to have been raised by Apaka, thought to be lost by a tribe of cannibals. She contacts Professor Mark Lester, curator at the American Natural History Museum, and persuades her to come with Amazon.
Upon arriving in Amazon, she joins Isabel Wilkes, the daughter of the campaign organizer, and Sister Angela, who is going upstairs to join a mission. Attacked by a snake, Emmanuel has been rescued by hunter Donald Mackenzie, who joins the group with his wife Maggie and his guide Salvatore and informs Sister Angela that her convent has been attacked and they are estimated to be cannibals , and no one survives.
The group continues in the forest, now being seen by natives in hiding. They find a different head at one stake, and the next morning Sister Angela is found missing. Meanwhile, Mackenzie tries to leave the group in an attempt to find a crashed plane from a diamond. As they stumble on the plane, they are attacked by the cannibal stakes. Donald and Maggie are kidnapped. The rest of the groups arrive only in time to see it. They try to find a cannibal village. Upon their arrival, the cannibals kill the salvatore and catch Isabel. Mark and Emanuel only managed to escape to murder Mackenzie brutally and Isabel was planted by the tribe to prepare for the sacrifice. To save Isabel, Emmanuel asked the tribals to portray the tribal symbols on their bodies that she is their water goddess, and takes Isabel to the water where Mark waits in a speedboat. Shot by the natives with spears, Mark, Emmanuel and Isabel still manage to avoid innocuous.
