Off the coast of a Caribbean island, a young couple left a hotel to have sex at sea. But they swim in a submerged rubble, which is also the pit of Piranha, and they both eat the unseen piranha.
The next day, a group of tourists, including Tyler Sherman, an employee of Hotel Elysium, are taking diving courses provided by Annie Kimbrose. One of his divers was buried under the debris, which he has strictly forbidden for his divers. To leave Tyler and take others to the surface, he found his badly chewed body almost immediately when his ‘missing’ student was killed there.
Anne’s husband, Steve, a police officer, refuses to hear about Anne because she wants to see the body because she has to know what had happened. Death does not match the pattern of attack by any marine life in the region, which he knows better than anyone else. For him, one should not know what a dangerous sign of killing a diver. Steve Gabby, a dynamite fisherman and his son, accepts and threatens to seize their boat, but as Gabby explains to Steve, Anne and he is old friends.
