Movie Plot: Responding to a complaint by farmer Frank Miller about a missing chicken, police officers Cliff Robertson and Ronnie Peterson of the small rural town of St. N. Robertson briefly confronted the local eccentric Hermit Bob in the woods. On his drive at the station, Cliff comments that it is still daylight after 8 p.m. while Ronnie has stopped working on his watch and cell phone. Farmer talks about Hermit Bob at a local dinner with Miller Hardware Store owner Hank Thompson. Hank hears a worrying radio report about the polar breakdown. Hank and dinner waitress Farn are also surprised why it’s not dark outside. On the radio “The Dead Don’t Die” There’s a song called ” that Ronnie describes as a theme song.
Following a news report seen at the Centerville Juvenile Detention Center, Geronimo tells fellow young inmates Olivia and Stella that polar-fracking has changed the rotation of the Earth. Deliveryman Dean leaves rare magazines with gas station owner Bobby, who also sells pop culture memorabilia outside his store. Moonlight Motel owner Danny Perkins sees broadcaster Posey Juarez behaving strangely about pets and his cats are missing. Farmer Miller also noticed that the animals in his farm had disappeared.
