Movie Plot: A teenager wakes up inside an underground elevator with no memory of his identity. A group of male youths greet him in a large grassy area. Called “Glade” surrounded by tall stone walls. Boys ( The “Gladers”) have formed an early society, with each assuming special functions. Their leader, Alce, says that eventually every boy remembers his name but not his past. The boy learns that a giant maze around them is the only way. During the day, the designated runner searches the maze for an escape route, returning before the night when the entrance closes. No one has ever survived a night in the maze.
While in the competition with another boy named Galli, the boy suddenly remembers his name: Thomas. The next day, he is attacked by Ben, a runner who has been stung and a Griever-deadly techno organic organism that left the Besudh by strolling the maze at night. Ben is forced into the maze and left to die, as there is no cure for his condition. Alby and Minho, the lead runner, later go back to Ben’s steps inside the maze. Minho Alby seems to be pulling the evening again, which is stung, but they are unable to reach the closing entrance in time. Help Thomas to run in the maze, all three being trapped. Thomas lures a Grimm into a closed hallway, causing it to be crushed. The trio manage to stay alive on the night, returning the next morning.
The first-ever upcoming girl comes to the elevator, with the note saying she last entered Glade. He recognizes Thomas, though he can’t remember her. Enter Thomas, Minho, Frypan, Winston, and Zart Maze, explore the griver zombies, and remove a beep mechanical device from within it. Gally claims Thomas has jeopardized the fragile peace between youngsters and Grievers and wants to punish him, but Newt, the group’s second-in-command, instead designates Thomas as a runner. Minho Thomas shows a hand-built model of the maze based on past exploration. Open numbered sections of the maze and lock in a regular sequence. Thomas suggests that the device corresponds to a square within the maze.
