Single Mother Jean gets a lot from the disappointment of her teen daughter, Holly, every time she breaks her heart with another boy. Holly plans to invent a secret fan for her mother, so she will be happy and will no longer have to move on. Holly orders flowers for a woman to her friend Amy’s uncle Ben, and decides to use her advice on women (who tells her she needs help for a school project on romance). Following Ben’s advice, she sends orchids and other gifts and love notes to her mother, and is soon telling her as this fictional fan (who named Holly Ben) with her mother via the internet. As her mother is more interested, Holly has to find a picture of this fan. She sends one of the real ben, and then explains a reason why she can’t meet personally, claiming that she is working in China. When she’s developing online romance between her mother and fake Ben, and stopping her mother and real Ben from meeting her personally, she finds herself ready for a beautiful, artistic boy in her classroom But he is not willing to come close to him because of uprooting his history and saying goodbye so often.
